Who We Are

Aphelia Research is an independent product analysis publication. Our editorial team combines engineering backgrounds with rigorous research methodology to produce recommendations you can verify. We are not sponsored by any manufacturer. Our revenue comes exclusively from affiliate commissions on products we genuinely recommend. Many products we cover have no affiliate program at all -- we recommend them anyway because they are the best option.

How We Make Money

When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is our only revenue source. We never accept sponsored placements, free products for review, or manufacturer payments. Our affiliate relationships do not influence our rankings -- products are scored on published specifications, clinical evidence, and independent testing data.

Our Methodology

We do analytical research that physical reviews cannot. Every article follows the same rigorous process, but the methods adapt to the category:

1. Original calculations. We compute metrics other reviews skip. For LED face masks, we calculated the actual fluence (J/cm2) each device delivers per session and mapped it against the clinical therapeutic window from peer-reviewed literature. For network switches, we cross-referenced thermal performance data from professional testing labs.
2. Cross-referenced independent testing. We verify manufacturer claims against independent professional data. Our LED mask analysis incorporates Ben Rawlings' spectroradiometer measurements. Our network switch rankings reference ServeTheHome's lab-grade testing. We cite specific studies by author and year, not "experts say."
3. FDA and regulatory verification. For health and beauty devices, we pull actual FDA 510(k) filing data to verify clearance status and published specifications. We explain the difference between FDA cleared and FDA approved, because most reviews do not.
4. Transparent criteria. Every recommendation explains exactly what we compared, why, and how products ranked against each other. If a brand hides a critical specification, we call it out.
5. Regular updates. Products change. Prices shift. New evidence emerges. We update our research to stay current and note verification dates in every article.

Our Principles

• Quality over volume. Every piece must be genuinely useful to someone making a purchasing decision.
• Full transparency. We use affiliate links and clearly disclose this. We recommend products because they are good, not because they pay the highest commission.
• No dark patterns. No fake urgency, no misleading placements, no pop-ups, no interstitials.
• Beautiful design. Research should be a pleasure to read, not an obstacle course of ads.
